About Me

Hey there, this is a page about me, Eric Teunis de Boone, commonly known as ET.

Sooo, I'm a physics student at Radboud University in Nijmegen, busy with a lot of things like drumming in a pipeband, learning the tinwhistle, keeping my own servers in line and quite some computer bamboozling of other people (a prime example is S.V. Marie Curie).
In (some of) my spare time I try to work on an extension to lilypond, an opensoure music typesetting program (somewhat like LaTeX), for pipeband drumming (you can find it here).

Right now, I'm doing research with Harm Schoorlemmer to synchronise radio antennas to below 1 ns to enable radio interferometry. Such antennas are used by the Pierre Auger Observatory and the Giant Radio Array for Neutrino Detection to detect Extended Air Showers caused by Cosmic Rays (thesis).
Previously, finishing my Bachelor's, I did research on WIMP Dark Matter in dSph galaxies under the supervision of Sascha Caron (thesis).

As said, I seem to spend quite some time on the highland snare drum, mainly with the The Seaforth Highlanders of Holland. While mostly active in the BeNeLux, pipeband drumming has brought me throughout NW-Europe and even to Canada. No, I haven't been to Scotland, maybe somewhere in the next five years I might. One of the most remarkable massed pipebands I have played in was during the Four Days Marches Nijmegen with the Holland Massed Pipes and Drums, about 80 pipers, 8 basses, 10 tenors and only 2 sides…

Furthermore, Science Fiction has been a great interest in my life. I don't necessarily mean the current type, which is mostly about dystopian civilizations or fantastic cultures. No, in fact, I read one of A.E. van Vogt's novels, maybe only 50 pages or so, but it had quite a powerfull idea in it. Oh by the way, my dad hooked me on Perry Rhodan since about 150500 issues ago, which has quite an elaborate world (mainly because it's an old series, the beginning dates back to the 60's or 70's).

What else is there to tell? I dunno, we'll see what comes up…
